Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said, “The number of visitors coming to our country for health and medical reasons in the first 6 months of this year was 586 thousand 754.”
Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy answered CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer’s proposal regarding the legal regulations, accreditation and inspection infrastructure, promotion and marketing activities for health tourism, and the number of people coming from abroad in this field.
Minister Ersoy stated that 4 sub-regions were created within the framework of the 1st stage of the “Thermal Tourism Master Plan” prepared within the scope of “Turkey Tourism Strategy 2023” and that Culture and Tourism Protection and Development Regions and Tourism Centers were declared in these regions. Minister Ersoy noted that the 1/25 thousand scale environmental plans for these areas were approved by the ministry.
Noting that in accordance with the ‘Tourism Promotion Law No. 2634’, the potential areas throughout the country were determined depending on the geothermal potential, Minister Ersoy stated that after these potential areas were analyzed on the basis of zoning, 56 Thermal Tourism Centers and Culture and Tourism Conservation and Development Zones were announced within the general planning approach. .
Regarding the health tourism data, Minister Ersoy said, “According to the statistics announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the number of visitors arriving and departing our country for health and medical reasons was 551 thousand 748 in 2018, 662 thousand 087 in 2019, and 388 thousand 150 in 2020. “The number of visitors arriving and departing our country for health and medical reasons in 2021 was 642 thousand 444, and 586 thousand 754 in the January-June period of 2022,” he said.
